Christmas Freebies from Read Dead Online, Pokémon & Overwatch
‘Tis the season for holiday cheer and nothing brings in the holidays more for gamers than the holiday updates to some of our most favorite video games! It’s almost a holiday tradition, for me at least, so take a look at what some of my favorite games are doing to help bring in the Yule time cheer!
Red Dead Online
Stars at night are big and bright and so are the Christmas lights hanging up in almost every town in new Austin! I highly recommend taking a trip to Saint Denis which to me is the most lavishly decorated for the holidays. All of the bars are playing Christmas music!
Your Moonshine shack is decorated for the holidays complete with a Christmas tree! The house band is full of merry cheer as they rock bluegrass style to some holiday favorites!
There are Holiday themed freebies to help celebrate the holiday, he may have gotten his in the past but if not now is your chance to get them.

The holiday update is currently active and will have drip content released from now until December 21st.
GTA online
Ever since it released in 2013 Rockstar has done a Christmas update for GTA Online, it’s most popular money making title to date! This year will be no different, however, there’s no exact release date or infor for the Holiday time update but one thing is for sure that the forecast is predicting snow! There’s a change in the driving dynamics of racing with snow on the street as well as allows players get to have snowball fights with each other!
Rockstar has been generous with the gifts in GTA online, last year giving away a free vehicle as well as major discounts on all new vehicles, some up to 80% with Prime membership!
Gift basket- A login reward for players who join the online experience is packed with goodies. Last year players got an entire outfit as well as holiday themed skins for some vehicles as well as bombs, fireworks, and other goodies.
No Man’s Sky
Although it’s not an official holiday update it is quite the gift from Hello Games and fans of No Man’s Sky‘s expedition missions. For those of us who did not get a chance to complete earlier expeditions, myself included, now is your chance to do so!
Available once again is the crossover freighter from Mass Effect “The Normandy.” In Mass Effect the Normandy is the product of a joint venture between the human Systems Alliance and the Turian Hierarchy, and described as the most advanced military infiltration starship in the galaxy within the series. Now, players of NMS can earn this special Frigate by completing the Expedition.
Overwatch
Slightly delayed this year Overwatche’s winter wonderland 2021 event is still on its way starting December 16 and ending on January 6.
Defensive been very vocal about what they would like to see in regards to skins and it looks like blizzard has paid attention. In the official trailer Oriya can be seen as a reindeer pulling Dvs mech like Santa’s sleigh!
One of the staples of Overwatch‘s winter wonderland update is maze snowball fight where players go head to head in a special themed map for the holidays.
Pokémon Unite
Every Pokémon master knows that Pokémon love the holidays… And if you didn’t, now you know! Pokémon Unite is having a special holiday event going on from December 15 until January 16. Players can collect special login rewards, earn special prizes in the new Illumination Challenge and Photo Challenge, as well as add two new licenses Tsareena and Dragonite.
Players who take part in the snowball battle in Shivre City will have their Pokémon transform into snowmen during the battle!
From December 9 until December 31 the Tsareena license is free. Tsareena is a melee all-around player!
On Dec 20th Dragonite enters the game as a Melee all-arounder with powerful moves like dragon breath and impact!
In the illumination challenge players can click on the holiday tree to earn special prizes and compete in special events.
The photo challenge is an event where players collect snowflakes by participating in different battles. For every snowflake the player collects reveals a portion of a Hidden photo. Once the entire photo is revealed the player will earn special prizes!
There are going to be Special days with prizes like December 24th, 25th, and January 1st so make sure to login to Pokémon UNITE often to get all the gifts!
LOTR: Rise to War
Yule is the last day of the year and the first day of the next year according to hobbits and it’s a special time set aside just for celebration. Lord of the rings rise to war is having their own Yule festival. There have been no details to date as to what players can expect aside from the dates of December 22 until January 5.
Pokémon Go
You can celebrate on the go with your favorite Pokémon from December 16 until the 31st in a special two-part event. The first part of the event begins on December 16 and goes until the 23rd. The Second begins immediately after and ends on the 31st. During these events and a ray of shiny holiday themed Pokémon will appear in the world as well as special reeds and prizes for spinning PokéStops.
A wild Bergmite has been spotted! The ice chunk cookie man it’s making its debut during part 2 of this holiday event.
Players can collect Mega Abomasnow Energy as well as earn more water and ice type Pokémon from team rocket grunts.
To get your avatar into the spirit there are holiday themed items available in the shop as well!
There’s a special mini event from December 24 to December 25 replace will be able to trade Pokémon at a 25 miles away as well as earn research towards a holiday (Shiny) Delibird encounter.
A collection challenge will also begin on the 25th to earn a Galarian Mr. Mime. This challenge last until the 31st.
The Simpsons Tapped Out
Nothing says the Holidays like the Simpsons. The first Simpsons episode was, in fact, a Christmas Special and the citizens of Springfield go all out to celebrate. Springfield is covered in snow and all of the houses are decorated with lights!
This year, Santa has been injured in a freak accident and Homer is poised to pick up the mantle and eat all of Santas Christmas cookies!
Available during this special holiday update are themed characters from the Simpsons Christmas’ past as well as special gifts and prizes for completing the storyline missions.
Emoji Blitz A Muppet Christmas Carol
A Muppet Christmas Carol is a must watch movies during the holiday season. Emoji blitz is celebrating the Yule by showcasing a new set of emoji from the muppet holiday classic.
Players can earn Christmas trees to unlock special reward boxes that hold Christmas theme emojis like Holly, Christmas wrapped gifts, and the Muppets in thier A Chrismas Carol Outfits themselves!
