It’s time for a blast from the past. Moonshine doesn’t buy into this Throwback Thursday bandwagon and is serving up a Smosh classic called Mortal Kombat Theme from when Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox were just were young Youtubers.
For anyone that grew up playing Mortal Kombat, you would definitely get a kick (pun!!) out of watching one of the first ever videos from this comedy team. Now, I say this knowing that when I first saw the video thumbnail and description, I thought it would be on the lame side…but I was mortally (pun!!) wrong.
This music video is silly from start to finish and with over 27 million views and 172 thousand Likes, one can’t deny its popularity.
And, the fact that they have over 68 thousand comments just goes to show how engaged their fans are. Folks are still leaving comments, even 10 years later!
Here’s a classic comment about this classic video.
Yeah, MySpace reference was a good one. Only if Justin Timberlake could get it going again!
As I continued looking through the comments, I came across this one that made me stop…I hate feeling old and Matt Plays apparently one of those young’uns that did it. I remember when the Internet was the BBS.
The moral of the story is that even after 10 years, this video continues to get lots of views and lots of comments.
With super silly fight choreography, and low-budget props, Ian and Anthony won millions of fans just from this one like post.
Overall, the production level is painfully bad but the energy and creativity are there, just as today.
I’ll leave you with this one thought: boy, these kids were dorky back in the day. 10 years of vlogging can make a man out of you!
You should definitely check it out and subscribe to Smosh…even on MySpace.
