Demon Hunters, UNITE!!!!!

Devil May Cry, the animated series, is dropping April 3rd, 2025. Exclusively on Netflix.

The manga source material may be more relevant than ever if you’re trying to gleam which characters may show up in the show… but I’m here to tell you about the empowering experience of playing the latest video game in the series. DMC is up to their 5th mainline entry, and speaking of 5, for $5 you can unlock a major antagonist and Dante’s twin brother {VIRGIL} from the Playstation store. If you purchase Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, Vergil is already included as a playable character, and you don’t need to buy the Vergil DLC separately. The benefit of this is that you will have unlimited devil trigger. Extra OP!!

He IS confirmed to make an appearance in the first season and likely become a major rival in future seasons.

You can unlock him in DMC4 as well but this game offers a more fluid combat system and also I never played any of the others. So basically, I picked this game up and without context whatsoever I had an obsessively good time, playing 50 hours in 2 weeks.

Get Involved!

It has already been six years since the release of devil may cry five and it is incredibly likely that we will get another installment sooner than later IF the Netflix series is successful.

I believe it will be badass and the popularity of the title will rise greatly. Why? Because of the demonic infrastructure. Many of the cool side characters are villainous creatures. Their unique and disturbing physical designs and their roles to stop you are what make them interesting.

Sure the game is mostly hack and slash but the show will have the opportunity to expand on lore and add more of a storyline to already established fiends.

If all of hell opened up and let out anything that wanted to get out, imagine how determined a being would need to be – to target the MC! Every thing holds a grudge and everything is personal.

Gameplay & Tactics

Teleportation: (Square to shoot the swords and R1 + Circle to target and teleport) The greatest ability in his arsenal is the blue swords that he imbeds into enemies. Any enemy that has been hit with one of these can be teleported to. double tap the left analog stick to change enemy selection. If you are going against a fast demon or a boss that covers distance and runs… well it won’t be a problem because in less than a second you’ll be right next to them slashing away at their life force.

Healing: World Of V (R1 + Left Analog Stick rotated in a full circle + Press O ) is both offensive AND restorative. Depending on how full your blue concentration meter determines how many attacking creatures you will summon while you heal AND it will affect how many health bars you regain. Warning: this does not stop time so enemies will continue pressuring forward which is important to mention seeing as he turns around and stabs himself to activate the ability. I learned the hard way that this ability is interuptable. Imagine trying to heal, you turn around to do so, and then you get stabbed in the back. Yikes! Also pressing R1 + Circle teleports you to an enemy that will attack so until you get good, you might try to heal, but instead teleport to someone that does more damage to you. So yeah distance management is crucial.

Storm Blades: ( R1 to target the enemy, Left analog down, hold then release Square. This technique launches an enemy into the air which can lead to nearly endless combos.

Heavy Rain Blades: (R1 to target the enemy, left analog stick back then forward, then hold and release Square) This will pin most enemies to the ground and leave them vulnerable to a series of combos.

Basically he’s a monster going up against lesser beasts and you as the player can dictate when and where on the battlefield you want your

target to be when they die/get sent back to hell.

Predictions for the Show

The most important thing to mention is that the MC “Dante” is being voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch. That alone is massive. If you know anime, you know this guy—Ichigo from Bleach, Vash from Trigun, Lelouch from Code Geass, to name a few. Not only is he a legend in the industry but he also provided us with the voice for Nero in DMC 4 & 5! This casting instantly gives me confidence in the show’s quality. It’s like having Tom Cruise or Will Smith (pre-slap) attached to a project. Production choices are going to be scrutinized, double-checked, and (hopefully) top tier.

One can only hope, wait, and see.

In addition, the series will be produced by Studio Mir (known for legend of Korra and an underrated adaptation of another video game franchise called Dota: Dragons Blood. The show was pure gas!

As for Devil May Cry 5, it already offers great replayability, and with the success of the Netflix series, I predict the franchise will continue to thrive and evolve into something truly epic.

The quality of the show is out of my hands, but what isn’t — is my damned controller while I whoop ass with all 4 of the playable characters in DMC5. The base game and the DLC provides insane replayability, and with the Netflix series dropping, I think this franchise will be expanding for decades.
