5. DnD Shorts – The Bearded Limey Optimizer
This bearded DM from across the pond is one of the top DnD Optimizers. The optimizers represent a small cadre of online obsessives who dedicate most of their grey matter into attempting to break the game through unusual class and ability combos. For instance, abusing the Glyph of Warding spell’s rule that an enchanted item cannot be moved, by casting the spell inside of a Warlock Genie’s vessel, thereby being able to tote typically illegal buff combos around with you in case of emergency.
Also kudos to DnD Shorts for his next-level in video ads. He basically writes a multiple-character comedy sketch starring himself every time he introduces a new sponsor.
4. You Might Be a DnD – The Prodigal Memer
It’s very unusual that a relative newcomer to the space ascends the ranks so quickly. You Might Be a DnD Foxworthys the typecasting of class players so effectively that it’s been able to ascend to one of the funniest 5e analysis channels in less than a year.
3. DM Tauzy’s Planescapers – Pro DM Teaches 5e to Comedians
A delightful newcomer to Twitch and YouTube TTRPG is streaming a very funny Planescapes campaign hosted by DM Tauzy. In the style of other live games streams like Critical Role, the game has thrown a group of improvisers into a zany campaign as they chase Planescape Beacons through fey and fiend across the multiverse.
2. Pack Tactics – The Counter-Intuiter
Pack tactics prides himself on being a DnD contrarian. He loves to declare how much he hates the haste spell, how running martial characters is a useless endeavor, and how you are probably running a very sub-optimal character build, indeed. However, at least you get the bad news from a talking kobold and his rascally alligator foil (who often voices the concerns of the ignorant masses, in rebuttal).
1. Zee Bashew – The Kurosawa of DnD Shorts
While Zee could technically be categorized as an optimizer, his shorts are much more profound. Each 1-2 minute short is funny, well-paced and teaches you a fundamental concept of 5e. It’s absolutely the best channel of its kind in the world, and nothing else is particularly close.
