When it comes to streamers, they come in a variety of styles for viewers to pick from. Some people like a steamer who is actively engaging the audience and focuses very little on gaming. Some enjoy a streamer who is on camera and their face and or body is half their appeal. And then there are steamers like GeekSpeakTV on twitch, they do neither. They have no on camera presence, at present. They very rarely talk on the mic, rarely not never. The only time you will hear them speaking a lot is when they are in a group party. When they do have something to say, 95% of the time it comes via text chat. What they do do is game, Every day.
Who is GeekSpeakTv?
GeekSpeakTV started video game streaming in 2016 but began as a Geek podcast in 2012 that covered all things in Geek culture. Video game streaming was sporadic for the social media geek website until the pandemic hit. During that time GeekSpeakTv realized that online gaming and streaming was a good way, to not only connect with friends, but also with an audience that enjoyed a stream that actually played games. “One of the most interesting experiences I had while streaming was when I was playing Red Dead Online with my friends, and we had about 40 viewers watching and laughing along with me and my pals. Some of the viewers even piggybacked on our riffs via chat and added to the hilarity. One of the viewers sent me a message saying how ‘fun it was to watch a stream where the creators were actually having a good time and just playing the hell out of the game.’ It was then I decided not to try so hard when it came to working the mic, and just have a good time doing my thing. That’s the great thing about streaming. There’s a little bit of something for everyone.”
Why the radio silence for GeekSpeakTV?
It’s no big surprise, or rather it shouldn’t be, for people who are familiar with today’s streaming and gaming culture that it is a toxic environment. Geek Speak TV has always been about anti-bullying and doesn’t want to contribute to the toxicity that already exists in streams. Rather than engage negativity in the chat GeekSpeakTv just bans the viewer. “I don’t care about likes or followers when I stream. I’m here for fun and laughs, I don’t have time for negativity. Ban them and move on.”
GeekSpeak TV admits that a small reason for the silence on the mic is to save the audience from his random outbursts of cheering and screaming. “I get really into games and sometimes forget that I’m even streaming so if something scares me or I score a beautiful goal I let it out…I don’t think anyone wants to hear that, or at least, I don’t want them to hear that coming from me!” Geek Speak TV says they also like to be comfortable while gaming and having a camera focused on them the whole time is distracting and takes away from enjoying the game. “I don’t like to have to worry about my dogs or what’s going on in the background. Frankly, I don’t want to have to wear pants in my own house. ‘Nuff said.”
Games Geek Speak TV streams:
The game streaming menu Geek Speak TV serves up is as varied and random as a 5 Star restaurant:
- Star Trek Online
- Elder Scrolls Online
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Chivalry II
- FIFA
- Predator Hunting Grounds
- No Man’s Sky
- Star Wars Squadrons VR
“I like a variety when it comes to the games I play. I don’t really care if the game is old or not, if it’s still fun to play, I’m all about it!” Which is why you’ll see GeekSpeakTv stream classic like Destroy All Humans and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game from time to time. “A good game is a good game and will stand the test of time, just like good books and music.”
Geek Speak TV isn’t like most streams and if you’re into watching gameplay without cheats or exploits or trash talk, I definitely suggest tuning in to this stream. There’s no set schedule or way of knowing what you’ll get when you watch this stream, but one thing is for sure, they’ll be playing a game and not just sitting around on a load screen for hours.
