In February 2012 A lot of people were consumed with anxiety about what could happen on December 21, 2012. The Mayans predicted the beginning of the end of the world. As of now, like me, you’re probably not too sure if they were correct or not, but one life-changing thing that did happen that your was the release of the Simpsons tapped out mobile app game by Fox and EA Games.
When the Simpsons first premiered on the Tracey Ullman show back in the late 80’s I was hooked! A Hilarious dysfunctional animated family was worth staying up late to watch. When the Simpsons television show premiered I was immediately a super fan. I drew Bart Simpson on my school books and had all the posters, toys, and memorabilia I could afford to steal. I was a poor kid.
Still Playing Tapped Out After 9 Years
When I heard that the mobile app game was available and it was described to me as the Sims but the Simpsons I didn’t need much convincing to jump in headfirst. After 10 years and a few several hundred dollars in impulse microtransactions, I’m still playing! I can honestly say that this game does not run short of content thanks to the long running Simpsons television show. They have a deep well of storylines to draw from when it comes to the characters in the Simpson universe. There’s a very good chance that you identify with or have a favorite Simpson character, maybe a few you might have forgotten about. Chances are, they are in the game! Each character in the game has a set of several entertaining animations, voice lines, and storylines.
The Simpsons Tapped Out is ever evolving and has an update every few months that usually changes with the seasons. One of my favorite times of year and now has become a tradition is when the Halloween Treehouse of Horror and Christmas updates are released. I don’t know if it’s the nostalgia connected to my childhood but it really helps bring in the season right and something I look forward to as a fan, gamer, and lover of the holiday season!
Tapped Out is set up very much like the Sims where gamers place down the Simpsons house in an empty Springfield and then, begin to build out from there. You are responsible for designing the entire look of your Springfield including the streets and how they interconnect, which is important if you want your characters to walk around on set paths, otherwise, they kind of just wander the map. The player is responsible for every last detail of their Springfield including Street lights, stop signs, mailboxes, even flower patches!
The game is big on social interaction and has built in features that allows you to find and/or invite friends to play. Tapped Out awards you bonuses for events by visiting friends Springfield’s. It’s a great opportunity to see the creativity and time that some players have put into their Springfield’s as well as some of the money that some of these people have spent to unlock some of the characters that can only bought by using “donuts.”
Tapped Out is Chocked Full of Microtransactions
Microtransactions are part of every mobile app game today. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is no exceptions to this rule. Their Microtransaction currency comes in the form of Homers favorite pink sprinkle donuts…”mmmmmm donuts”. Donuts come in varying packages ranging from 99 cents all the way up to a “Truckload of Donuts” for $100. I myself gave in a few times to that temptation and it’s something that I actively work hard to fight against still…no regrets!
It’s possible to earn free donuts in the Simpson Tapped Out frequently by completing daily challenges as well as quests.
The current Simpsons tapped out update is one that deals with multi-dimensional time travel. Homer and Mr. Burns have accidentally opened up a portal to the past looking for cheap workers. Unfortunately, different versions of Homer are starting to come through the portal instead, at least that’s what I can tell from the story I’ve read so far. Character quests can take anywhere from 2 to 72 hours to complete. The character automatically goes about completing the task on their own. The hard part is having a little patience until it’s over. Players can speed up a quest by using donuts but that can get a little expensive after a while. Patience is a virtue especially when it comes to microtransactions and mobile app games.
One of the biggest things that stands out about the Simpsons Tapped Out for me as a super fan is the amount of content in the dialogue between characters. It can take a few minutes to get through the amount of jokes and story that is written into these quests. The writers even joke about it sometimes in the dialogue referencing as to how much clicking a player has to do to get through the text to start a mission. If you’re a fan of The Simpsons you’ll really get a kick out of these extra storylines that were never put into the TV shows or might have just been a reference or a one off episode, like the stonecutters. I highly recommend downloading the Simpsons Tapped Out it’s has something for everyone and is hours of fun!
