YouTube has been around for about 10 years now and it has already made its mark in the Guinness Book of World Records. This article highlights five Youtubers that are either currently in the Guinness Book of World Records or were in it at one point in time. Among these five are the vlogging masters Shay Carl and Charles Trippy as well as the most popular man in YouTube’s short history, Felix Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie.
Getting into the Guinness Book of World Records is no small feat. It takes hard work and dedication as well as being talented at what you do.
#5: Shay Carl
Shay Carl Butler, 35, is a Youtuber that once held the record for the most consecutive daily vlogs (video blogs). His top two YouTube channels, shaycarl and SHAYTARDS, have a total of five million subscribers combined. His vlogs star he and his family in their everyday lives. Butler and his wife have five kids together so there is always something entertaining going on in their house which is why the channels have become so successful. It could be anything from their six-year-old son stealing the family van to get ice cream to the whole family randomly breaking out into the Harlem Shake.
Butler also makes videos that sponsor companies, such as General Electric, which is a big reason why he is worth around three million dollars. He also works with celebrities in some of his videos. This one stars former NBA player, Charles Barkley, who just might have the lowest IQ in league history.
#4: Charles Trippy
Charles Trippy, 31, is the current record holder for the most consecutive daily vlogs. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, as of May 7 2015, the record was achieved at 2,200 videos and that number is climbing. For the last seven years he’s been posting his personal vlogs on his popular YouTube channel CTFxC, which has over 1.5 million subscribers. Like Shay Carl, Trippy does vlogs about his everyday life and by watching his videos he clearly leads an entertaining life. The video posted below is my favorite of his because there’s nothing sexier than girls that know how to play Beer Pong!
#3: PewDiePie
Felix Kjellberg is a 25- year-old Youtuber prodigy who currently holds the record for the most subscribers in the world. His YouTube channel, PewDiePie, has an impressive 39 million subscribers and his videos have over 10 billion views combined!
On his channel revolves around Let’s play. He basically plays a bunch of different video games and creates montages from them that are funny and entertaining while also offering up his own opinions about the games. According to Gamespot.com, the Swede earned up to $7.5 million dollars in 2014 as he is living just about every gamer’s dream. Seven and a half million dollars to sit around and play video games all day… I think I’d take that!

#2: Furious Pete
Peter Czerwinski, better known as Furious Pete, is a 29-year-old Canadian competitive eater whose YouTube channel revolves around competitive eating and motivational fitness videos. He currently holds the record for the fastest time for eating a 12 inch pizza. He did this in an insane 41 seconds, which demolished the previous record that was set at 1.93 minutes. That record was set by one of the most famous competitive eaters in the world, Japanese-born Takeru Kobayashi, which makes this record even more impressive for Czerwinski. #1: Piano Guys
The Piano Guys consist of four members: pianist Jon Schmidt, cellist Steven Sharp Nelson, Paul Anderson, and Al van der Beek. They are a musical group that are in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating a video of a reenactment of a Nativity that featured over 1,000 people. Among these people were musicians David Archuleta and Peter Hollens as well as popular Youtubers like the SHAYTARDS and Devinsupertramp (Devin Graham).
At the start of the video Archuleta, Hollen, and The Piano Guys perform the Christmas carol “Angels From the Realm of Glory,” which was originally written by Scotsman James Montgomery. As this is going on the camera pans through the performers and many of the actors in the video. Then the video shows Mary and Joseph with baby Jesus laying in his bed as all of the actors come into the picture from the background. The video can be seen below:
This is only the beginning for Youtubers claiming their place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Who knows how many more records will be set in another 10 years? Could another Youtuber come along and beat Furious Pete’s 12 inch pizza record? Could a current or future vlogger take PewDiePie’s crown of popularity? Or could we see a Youtuber break some crazy record like the world’s longest beard?
It’s impossible to tell what the future holds but there’s a good chance that we will see more of these talented video masters making their way into the record book and when that happens we will be here to cover it. Especially if there is someone out there with a camera that can take down a 12 inch pizza faster than Furious Pete!
